I cleaned off the pin and it appears to be undamaged with no wear or markings. I eventually got it out, but it doesn't move freely in its bore and has a tendency to get stuck. The real problem was the apply pin being stuck in its bore. I ended up removing the E clip and taking off the pistons one at a time.

The cover came off pretty easily after a few whacks of a hammer, but the pistons themselves wouldn't budge. The only odd thing that I encountered was the 2-4 servo assembly. The molded pistons looked fine, and all the other frictions were brand new (I could still read the borg warner label on them). 3-4 clutch pack was burnt up like expected, but everything else looked good. I dropped the transmission and took it apart. The problem was no shift into 3rd or 4th gear. He didn't want to put any money into it anymore so I picked it up for a pretty good price.
